title: Creating storyboards with invideo
description: Vision turns a text prompt into a storyboard grid with consistent characters, lighting and art direction across every frame.
---
Vision is a storyboard tool in the invideo app. It turns a text prompt into a storyboard grid with consistent characters, lighting and art direction across every frame. It is built for pre-production: you lock your visual language before you start generating video.

Your agent does not use Vision. It makes storyboards with image models instead. See [Storyboards and previs](/how-to/film/storyboards-and-previs).

## How to get started

In the invideo app, open Vision from the AI tools on the homepage.

1. Go to **Agents & models**, then **AI tools**.
2. Describe your scene and add any reference images.
3. Vision generates a storyboard grid.

## Storyboard options

Vision has three modes:

- **Boards** generates your storyboard sequence from the prompt.
- **Looks** keeps your character's appearance consistent across every frame.
- **Angles** shifts the camera perspective on any frame and keeps the character the same.

| Tip | Why it helps |
| --- | --- |
| Describe your character clearly in your first prompt | Vision uses this as the reference across every shot |
| Specify lighting and mood upfront | Vision carries this through the entire storyboard |
| Use Angles after your first generation | Gives you more control than describing every camera angle in the first prompt |
| If a frame is almost right, extract it and use it as a reference image | Saves you from making the whole storyboard again |

## Extracting a frame

Select any frame from your storyboard. Extract it as a standalone image, or send it directly into video generation to build out the scene.
