title: Creating images with Nano Banana Pro
description: Make and edit photorealistic images with Nano Banana Pro, Google's image model, with strong character consistency and text rendering.
---
Nano Banana Pro is Google's image generation and editing model, available on invideo. Your agent calls it as `nanobanana_pro`. It generates and edits photorealistic images, with strong character consistency and precise text rendering.

## How to get started

In the invideo app, open Nano Banana Pro from the generative models on the homepage.

1. Select **Generative models**, then **Image models**, then **See all**, then **Nano Banana Pro**.
2. Upload a reference image to edit, or start from a text prompt alone.
3. Enter a detailed description of the image you want to create.
4. Preview your result, refine it with a follow-up prompt, and download it.

The agent uses the same model through `generate` and reads the inputs with `get_model`.

Your agent runs a dry run first. For any call that costs 1 credit or more, it tells you the price and waits for your yes. A call under 1 credit runs without asking, and your agent tells you what it cost.

## Prompt best practices

Nano Banana Pro responds well to prompts that describe subject, environment, lighting and style together. The more specific the prompt, the more precise the output.

*Example: Close-up portrait of a man in a navy suit standing in a glass office at golden hour, warm backlight, shallow depth of field, editorial photography style.*

| Tip | Why it helps |
| --- | --- |
| Describe lighting and mood explicitly | Nano Banana Pro relights the whole scene with coherent shadows and highlights |
| Specify camera angle in your prompt | Wide, medium, close-up and top-down angles can all come from the same scene description |
| Include the text you want in the image | Nano Banana Pro renders text in many languages. Describe the font style and placement |
| Use image editing for targeted changes | Describe only what should change. The model keeps everything else as it is |

Models retire. If a model is not found, your agent runs `find_models` with the job in words, uses the best match, and tells you. See [Models](/reference/models#when-a-model-retires).
