title: When should I use a title instead of word-by-word captions?
description: Give editorial labels and spoken words different jobs in the edit.
---
Use titles for information such as a person’s name, a section heading, a key point or a call to action. Use captions to represent speech. Word-by-word captions add visual movement or emphasis to that text. invideo Editor supports titles and word-by-word captions on the timeline. See [Add word-by-word captions](/how-to/creators/word-by-word-captions).

Keep their roles distinct so viewers can follow the speaker while understanding the extra information. Check wording, timing and spelling, and avoid placing a title where it competes with the captions. Use restrained animation when the audience needs to read several things at once.
