title: How can I use EQ to reduce muddy or harsh dialogue?
description: Make targeted tonal adjustments with Parametric EQ 8.
---
Use **Parametric EQ 8** (`eq`) in invideo Editor, in **Effects**, under **Audio**, to change set frequency ranges in the sound. For a quick voice fix, try **Voice EQ** (`voice_eq`) first. It cuts rumble and adds clarity. EQ changes tonal balance, so it can help when a recording sounds boomy, boxy or overly sharp.

Identify what you hear, make a small adjustment and listen again. Avoid using one fixed setting for every speaker or microphone. Keep the voice recognizable and check it against the music. If the problem is uneven volume across words, compression may be more relevant than further EQ.
