title: When to use Lovart vs invideo
description: Lovart designs images, posters and brand assets on a canvas. invideo assembles them into a video on a timeline with voice, music and captions.
---
Use Lovart when the job is design first: product shots, social posts, posters and a campaign kit. Use invideo when those assets become a video, cut on a timeline with voice, music and captions.

## The same brief in both tools

The brief: a product launch campaign with a key visual, three social posts, and a 20 second video that uses the same look.

In Lovart, you describe the campaign to its design agent. It makes the key visual and the posts on one infinite canvas, from your brand kit. You edit each element by prompt or with its tools. Its skills can also turn a brief into a finished video, with a shot list and consistent characters. You export PNG, SVG, PSD, PPTX or MP4.

In invideo, your agent brings the key visual and the product photos into the project with `add_media`. It writes the brand into a `context/brands/` entry. It animates stills with an image-to-video model through `generate`, places the shots on a timeline, and times the cuts to the music with `media` `audio.beats`. It adds text with `add_text` and `set_keyframes`, a voice from a TTS model, and captions with `add_captions`. You change any shot or timing in the editor, then the agent runs `capture` and `export`.

## At a glance

The rows below are the ones that change the choice for this job.

| | Lovart | invideo |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Main surface | An infinite canvas for design | A multi-track timeline for video |
| Design assets | Product shots, social posts, campaign kits, slides | Images from image models; no design canvas |
| Video | Brief to finished video through its skills | Clips, text, voice and music assembled on a timeline |
| Editable timeline after the cut | Not described in its docs | Move, trim and retime clips by hand or by agent |
| Brand | A brand kit as an input | A `context/brands/` entry, applied with `set_text_style` |
| Captions | Not on the docs page checked | An editable caption track |
| Agent access | An in-app agent | CLI and skills for terminal agents; MCP server for clients without a shell |
| Files out | PNG, SVG, PSD, PPTX, MP4 | MP4, or a Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro or DaVinci Resolve project |

## Use Lovart when

Lovart fits work where the picture is the product.

- You need a set of matching stills: a key visual, posts, a poster, a deck.
- You want to lay out and compare designs side by side on a canvas.
- You need layered PSD or vector SVG files for a designer.
- The video is a short piece that a design brief fully describes.

## Use invideo when

invideo fits work where the timing is the product.

- Several shots, a voice and a music bed have to line up, cut by cut.
- You change one shot or one line and keep the rest of the cut.
- The video needs captions that stay editable.
- You make versions for each platform from one master.
- An editor finishes it in Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro or DaVinci Resolve.

Edits and exports are free. Generation and transcripts cost credits. Paid stock costs a small credit charge, or one of your workspace's iStock licenses. Your agent runs a dry run first and tells you the price before it spends anything.

## Use both

Design in Lovart, then assemble in invideo. The hand-off is the exported files.

1. Make the key visual, the product shots and any short clips in Lovart.
2. Export them as PNG or MP4.
3. Upload them to the invideo project with `start_upload` and `add_media`.
4. Assemble them on a timeline with voice, music and captions.
5. Run `capture`, then `export`.

Fonts come in the same way. Upload the brand's TTF or OTF file with `start_upload` and `add_media`, and `add_text` uses it.

## What Lovart does better

Say it plainly: for design work, Lovart is the stronger tool.

- One canvas holds graphics, ads, slides and video together.
- Its agent makes finished design outcomes, not single images.
- It exports layered PSD, vector SVG and PPTX files.
- A brand kit set up once shapes every asset.
