title: Security and data
description: Where your invideo files live, who can see a project, how sharing and export permission work, and how to delete a project, workspace or account.
---
Your footage, generations and exports live in your invideo project, in invideo's cloud. Members of the workspace can open the project, and so can the people you share it with. A new export page is private. Nothing leaves the workspace until you share the project, set an export page to `shared` or `public`, or download a file. You can delete a project, a workspace or your whole account.

```json
{ "tool": "share_export_page", "arguments": {
  "url": "<export-page-url>", "visibility": "private" } }
```

## Where your files live

Everything you bring in or make belongs to one project in one workspace.

- **Uploads and imports.** `add_media` and `start_upload` put your files in the project, as sequences in the notebook.
- **Generations.** Each `generate` result is a sequence in the project.
- **Project files.** Downloads, brief files, fonts and documents sit under the project's files, at its `…/assets` URL.
- **Download links.** When your agent reads a file, it gets a fresh download URL. The URL expires. A new `read` gives a new one.
- **Google Drive.** When you connect Google Drive, invideo sees only the files you pick, not the rest of your Drive.

Storage counts against your plan. Open **Usage** in your profile menu to see how much you use.

## Who can see a project

A project belongs to its workspace. These are the people and agents who can see it.

- **You and the workspace members.** They open the project and watch edits land live. See [Seats and workspaces](/account/seats).
- **People you share the project with.** The **Share** button in the project opens one share modal. You add a person by email, as a guest in your workspace or as a connect to this one project, and give them a role: editor, viewer or preview only. General access is your workspace by default; you can open the link to anyone signed in to invideo, or restrict it to invited people on the plans that include it. Someone without access who opens the link can request it. The roles and options are listed under [Who can see a project](/account/seats#who-can-see-a-project).
- **Restricted pages.** Some notebook pages are limited to some people. A write the person may not make is refused before anything is made.
- **Your agent.** It acts as you, in the workspaces you chose at sign-in. It can open only what you can open. It cannot share a project.

What your agent reads goes into your AI app. Frames from `capture`, words from a transcript and file details come back to the agent's chat. That chat follows the AI app's own terms, not invideo's. Keep that in mind for private interviews or client footage.

## Share an export page

An export page shares one result outside the project. A new export page is private. `share_export_page` sets who can see a page and what they can do.

| Visibility | Who can see the page |
| --- | --- |
| `public` | Anyone with its URL. |
| `shared` | Members of the workspace. |
| `private` | Only you. |

For each visibility, the page also sets whether people may comment and download. It also sets what the workspace may do with the page: view, comment or edit. Your agent asks you before it makes a page public.

```bash
invideo export share <export-url> --visibility shared \
  --team-access comment
```

The export page's URL, `…/exports/<id>`, comes from `add_to_export_page` or `invideo export add`. It is `<export-page-url>` in the MCP call above and `<export-url>` in the command.

## Export permission

An export needs export permission on the project. Without it, `export` is refused and nothing is made. Ask the person who manages the project to give you the permission. Exports are free.

## How invideo handles your data

The invideo CLI runs on your machine.

- It keeps your sign-in on this machine, outside your project folders. `invideo auth logout` forgets it.
- It talks only to invideo, over HTTPS.
- It reads only the files you name, and writes only into the `--out` folder you give.
- It sends no telemetry, and runs nothing but your browser for sign-in.

For a security review, SSO or compliance reports, see the <a href="https://invideo.io/enterprise/" target="_blank">enterprise page</a>.

The <a href="https://invideo.io/terms-and-conditions/" target="_blank">terms and conditions</a> say how invideo may use the content you upload, and how deleting it or closing your account stops that use. The <a href="https://invideo.io/privacy-policy/" target="_blank">privacy policy</a> covers personal data. This page does not state retention periods. Read the privacy policy for them.

## Delete a project

You delete a project in the app. Your agent has no tool to delete a project.

<Steps>
<Step title="Open your projects">
Select the logo in the top left corner, then select **Show all**.
</Step>
<Step title="Delete the project">
Click the trash can icon on the project and select **Delete**.
</Step>
<Step title="Confirm">
Confirm the deletion. The project is removed from your account for good.
</Step>
</Steps>

To delete exported videos, click **You** in the left panel, open **Downloads** with **See all**, click **Edit**, select the videos and click **Delete**.

Inside a project, your agent can remove a context entry by writing it with empty markdown using `write`. The same call on a brief archives it.

## Delete a workspace or your account

Deleting the workspace comes first, then the account. You are signed out when the account is gone.

- **On the web.** Open **Settings**, choose **Manage account**, then **Delete workspace**, then **Delete account**.
- **In the iOS or Android app.** Tap the arrow next to the logo in the top left corner. Open the **Members** page, delete the workspace, then delete the account. The app allows this only when no plan is active, so your plan must end first. See [Refunds and cancellation](/account/refunds).
- **If it does not work.** Fill in the <a href="https://forms.gle/Mo82hZvi3pKKnbxbA" target="_blank">account deletion form</a>. invideo deletes the account and emails you if it needs more information.

After you delete the account, sign out of the CLI on each machine with `invideo auth logout`, and remove invideo from your AI apps.

## If something goes wrong

These are the common problems with access and deletion.

| Symptom | Fix |
| --- | --- |
| `export` is refused for permission. | Ask the person who manages the project for export permission. |
| An export page does not open for someone. | The page is `shared` or `private`. Set it to `public`, or add the person to the workspace. |
| A member cannot open the project. | They are in another workspace, or the page is restricted. |
| A download link stopped working. | It expired. `read` the file again for a fresh URL. |
| You cannot delete the account in the app. | The account has an active plan. Wait for it to end, or use the deletion form. |
| The agent makes a page public without asking. | Avoid this. Instead, the agent asks you before it shares outside the workspace. |
