title: Seats and workspaces
description: How invideo workspaces, seats and members work, how to switch, and which workspaces and projects your agent can see.
---
A workspace is where your projects, files and credits live. One account can belong to several workspaces, and each workspace has its own plan. A seat is one member's place in a workspace with an active plan, with its own monthly credits. Your agent works only in the workspaces you chose when you signed it in.

```json
{ "tool": "list_workspaces", "arguments": {} }
```

```bash
invideo workspace list
```

## Workspaces

Every project belongs to one workspace. Each workspace has a name, a URL and a plan.

- **Your own workspace.** You get one when you create your account.
- **Workspaces you join.** A colleague adds you as a member of their workspace. It then appears next to yours.
- **One plan per workspace.** Each workspace has its own subscription. Credits spent in a workspace come from that workspace's plan.
- **The name.** Change it under **Settings**, in **Workspace settings**. The name shows when you share a video.

To switch workspaces in the app, click the profile icon in the top right corner and pick the workspace from the menu.

## Seats and members

On an active plan, each member takes a seat. Each seat comes with its own monthly credits. The seat count you can buy depends on the plan. See [Plans](/account/plans), the <a href="https://invideo.io/help/billing/plan-limits/" target="_blank">plan limits page</a> and the <a href="https://invideo.io/pricing" target="_blank">pricing page</a>.

<Steps>
<Step title="Add seats">
Open your profile menu (your picture in the top right corner) and choose **Subscriptions**. Set the number of seats on your plan and confirm. Upgrades are prorated for the rest of the billing period.
</Step>
<Step title="Invite people">
Open your profile menu and choose **Members**. Invite each person there.
</Step>
<Step title="Check they joined">
The person signs in, switches to your workspace and sees its projects. If they do not, check that they accepted the invite.
</Step>
</Steps>

Your agent cannot add seats or invite members. You do this in the app.

## Which workspaces your agent sees

Your agent sees the workspaces you chose when you signed it in, and no others. Each MCP connection and each CLI sign-in has its own set.

- `list_workspaces` lists those workspaces, each with its URL. One is marked as the default.
- `invideo workspace list` prints the same list in a terminal.
- `list_projects` and `new_project` work in the default workspace when the agent does not pass a workspace URL. To work in another one, the agent passes that workspace's URL as `url`.
- `current_user` and `invideo auth status` show the credits left in the default workspace.

To add a workspace, connect again and choose it at sign-in. In the CLI, run `invideo auth login` again. In a chat app, disconnect invideo and connect it again. See [Sign in, device codes and sessions](/account/sign-in).

```bash
invideo project list <workspace-url>
invideo project new <workspace-url> --title "Launch teaser"
```

`<workspace-url>` is a workspace's URL, `https://invideo.io/@<workspace>`, from `invideo workspace list` or `list_workspaces`.

## Who can see a project

A project belongs to its workspace. Members of the workspace can open it and watch edits land live. You share a project with anyone else from the **Share** button in the project. It opens one share modal: add a person by email, see who has access and their role, and set the general access and copy the link. Your agent cannot share a project. You do this in the app.

- **General access.** *Your workspace* is the default: members open the link, and anyone else sees a request-access page. *Anyone with the link* lets anyone signed in to invideo view, comment and fork. *Restricted*, on the plans that include it, allows only invited people and no link sharing.
- **Adding a person.** *Add to workspace* gives the person a guest seat and access to every open project in the workspace; their credits come from your workspace. *Connect* gives access to this one project, uses no seat, and their credits come from their own workspace.
- **Roles in a project.** *Editor* edits the project. *Viewer* views the whole project, comments and forks. *Preview only* sees the preview tab and the timeline previews, and comments. A person from outside the workspace can hold any role.
- **Request access.** Someone who opens a link without access signs in and requests access. You get a notification that opens the share modal, where you add them to the workspace or connect them to the project.
- **Restricted pages.** Some notebook pages are limited to some people. invideo refuses a write the person may not make there, before anything is made.
- **Agents** act as the person who signed them in. An agent can open only what that person can open.
- **Export pages** share a result outside the project. A new export page is private. `share_export_page` sets a page to `public` (anyone with the URL), `shared` (members of the workspace) or `private` (only you). See [Security and data](/account/security-and-data).

Several agents can work in one project with a person. Each agent registers a name with `register` and passes it as `as`, so people see who did what. See [Run several agents and a person in one project](/how-to/developers/several-agents-one-project).

## Claude Team and Enterprise organizations

In a Claude Team or Enterprise organization, an owner adds the invideo connector first, in the organization's connector settings. Each person then connects it to their own invideo account.

## If something goes wrong

Most workspace problems come from the workspaces chosen at sign-in.

| Symptom | Fix |
| --- | --- |
| A project URL is refused or not found. | The project is in a workspace the agent cannot see. Connect again and choose that workspace. |
| `list_projects` shows the wrong projects. | The agent used the default workspace. Pass the right workspace URL from `list_workspaces`. |
| The credits left look wrong. | `current_user` shows the default workspace. Check the workspace the project is in. |
| A member cannot see the project. | Check that they switched to your workspace, and that the page is not restricted. |
| Your agent asks you to add a seat for it. | Avoid this. An agent does not need a seat. It works as the person who signed it in. |
